John Carnie is a guitarist and singer and the author of the Scottish Guitar Tutor Book.
John is known for his driving fusion of blues, folk, celtic and jazz. He cites Django Reinhardt, Rory Gallagher and Richard Thompson as major influences on his playing. He is as comfortable playing an Irish reel or Scottish ballad as he is a delta slide blues or self penned ballad. The Blues Folk Trio is an exciting exploration of roots music. The band features leading jazz musicians Paul Jefferies on double bass and Charlie Stratford on drums. This new band delivers a unique and driving mix of folk and blues with a celtic and jazz edge. The music ranges from delta slide blues to Donegal slip jigs and powerful acoustic blues to jazzy interpretations of Richard Thompson songs.
