Tickets for this year’s workshops are now on sale, and we have a jam-packed programme with something for everyone!
As always, we have a fantastic range of family-friendly workshops with Pauline Cordiner, including Scots song, puppet making and storytelling. Alongside this, our incredible main stage artists will also be sharing their skills in a variety of workshops for musicians of all levels.
On Saturday, the Capstan Quartet will lead workshops in fiddle, bouzouki and guitar, while Beth Malcolm will host a songwriting workshop. Her bandmates Tiernan Courell, Heather Cartwright and Callum Convoy will also be offering workshops in flute, guitar and bodhran. We’re also delighted to welcome BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Rachel Groves for a clàrsach workshop.
Sunday brings even more exciting opportunities to learn, with members of Breabach leading workshops in fiddle, whistle and accompaniment. Cahalen Morrison will host a mandolin workshop, while Arthur Coates and Kerran Cotterell will lead fiddle, guitar and foot percussion workshops — sure to be lots of fun! Rounding off the weekend, John McCusker & Friends will host a groupwork workshop: a brilliant chance to learn new tunes from some of Scotland’s top musicians and play alongside other likeminded musicians.
We’re also delighted to welcome Ellie Beaton and Hannah Rarity back to the festival to lead our Big Sing — we can’t wait to see what they put together!
If you don’t already play an instrument, this is the perfect opportunity to get started. SC&T Youth will be hosting a taster session at St James’s Hall, and Irene Watt will lead a clàrsach workshop open to all abilities. There’s no time like the present to start a new hobby — and who knows, by next year you could be joining in on the festival sessions too!
It’s a fantastic programme and an amazing opportunity to learn from such highly skilled musicians. Spaces for each workshop are limited, so make sure to book your tickets soon!
