The Mearns Singers are a local community based "Choir" established several year ago in Stonehaven. They have performed widely in the area and even on board the Cutty Sark in Greenwich and Cecil Sharp House in London, home of the English Folk Dance and song society. The choir is led by Irene Watt.
Festival regulars will be familiar with Irene's involvement with the festival as a singer, workshop leader and Clarsach player. This is a great opportunity to see/hear them in concert, expect a very wide repertoire of traditional and contemporary songs.
The Mearns Singers meet every Thursday evening at 7.30 in the Shepherds Hall, Stonehaven. This group sings a wide variety of songs often in 3 or 4 part harmony. The group perform for local events throughout the year. New members always welcome.
